Rules and Regulations
Want to join our community? Good choice! A member of The 34th Dimension is just about the best thing you can hope to be. There are just a few things we'd like to check before you sign up in order to make sure you aren't a douche.
- Language
- If English is your native language, use it properly. I don't care if you use American or the Queen's English or if you don't know the difference between a subject and a predicate. Just use full sentences and the best grammar that you can muster. Swearing is all right in moderation.
- Piracy/Illegal Content
- Torrents and file sharing may be legal in some countries, but I don't need the RIAA or MPAA on my ass because you posted a link to Michael Jackson's discography or your torrent of All Dogs Go To Heaven. You can discuss the merits of piracy all you want, but providing files or links to copyrighted content will get your ass banned.
- Spamming
- If you're going to sign up only so that you can shill some product/service/website, even if it's your own, you're going to be banned. If you want to promote something that you've created, do it in the proper subforum.
- Avatars & Signatures
- You can choose from either one of our premade avatars or upload one of your own. Custom avatars must be 100 x 100 pixels or less and no larger than 1 MB.
Your signature must be 300 characters or less. You may use a maximum of three lines of text and include up to three images in your signature. Total occupied width and height of images must be within 500 x 300 pixels (including images that are side-by-side or stacked).
Do not include pornographic, racist or otherwise offensive images in your avatar or signature. - Pornographic Images/Content
- Everyone likes porn, but it's easy enough to find on Google so there's no need to post it here. So don't do it, or you'll be banned.
- Account Usage
- You may only hold one account with The 34th Dimension. Multiple accounts will be deleted and the user holding them warned.
You may not use your account for any illegal or otherwise dubious purpose, as deemed so by the administration. This includes, but is not limited to: drug trafficking, software piracy, bootlegging, etc. - Responsibility
- By creating an account here, you agree that the proprietors of The 34th Dimension and its affiliates cannot be held liable for any illegal or otherwise dubious actions taken using your account.
You are responsible for your account and how it is used. This includes misuse through account hijacking, which means that, if you forget to log out on a public computer and someone starts posting under your name, you will be held responsible because it was your mistake to begin with. If your account is hijacked due to an error with our system, however, we can't really blame you for that. - Privacy
- You can hide your gender, e-mail address and online status to other users at any time, either by choosing the respective options while filling out the registration form or by changing your privacy settings later.
As a general rule, any private messages you send/receive through our private messaging system will remain between you and the corresponding user. No other user or users will ever be granted access to your private messages. However, if we have reason to be suspicious of your activities, administrators do have access to all private messages sent and received on this site and may issue a warning or ban based on the contents of said messages. We may also turn over private correspondance if requested to do so by legal authorities. So don't use the private messaging system to be an asshole, OK? - Be Cool To Each Other
- This is a catch-all clause. If you are flaming, baiting or generally being an asshole, we don't want you around here. You don't have to get along with everyone, but you're still expected to be civil. If you're having a personal argument with someone, don't even take it to private messages. Take it off-site completely.
It's one thing to be a smart ass and another to just be an ass. We're cool with the former—this site is founded on cracking wise and being cynical in good taste. But a joke is only funny when everyone's laughing, so don't make them at others' expenses. - Warnings/Bannings
- If you receive a warning/are banned for your behaviour, suck it up and move on. Bitching about it to the administration won't get you anywhere. As a rule of thumb, all decisions made by the moderators/administrators are final. If an appeal is warranted, you will be directed through the proper channels.
- Three-Strike Policy
- As a general rule of thumb we follow a three-strike policy. This means that you will receive a maximum of three warnings before you are banned. This policy is flexible, however, and you can be granted reprieve for long periods of good behaviour; but we can also ban you without issuing three warnings or any warning at all if we decide to.
- Terms Subject To Change
- By registering you acknowledge that this list of terms may be updated at any time by the administration. It is your job to make sure you aware of all currently applicable terms.
